Wozniacki survives, Suarez Navarro outclasses Errani
World number 10 Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark beat Sabine Lisicki of Germany in a highly anticipated first round encounter at the 2013 Australian Open. Wozniacki lost the first set 6-2 but fought back to level the match by winning the second 6-3. Lisicki took a commendable 3-0 lead in the deciding set but Wozniacki again fought back and clinch the match helping with Lisicki's errors. The final score of the match is 2-6,6-3,6-3 victory for the Dane. On MCA, Sara Errani became the highest seeded player to left the draw as Carla Suarez Navarro of Spain overcame the number 7 Italian in straight sets 6-4,6-4. Errani was defending last year's quarter final points. Short while before Errani's loss, 42 year old Kimiko Date Krumm defeated world number 12 Russian Nadia Petrova.
