World number one and defending champion Serena Williams ended Ana Ivanovic's successful Rome campaign beating the Serbian 6-1,3-6,6-1. Ivanovic was lost in the opening set but somehow managed to gain her confidence to clinch the second over the inform American. Williams eventually regained the momentum and stormed through the final set to knocked out her fellow former number one opponent. Williams will play Italy's Sara Errani in Sundays final for her third Rome title.
