Maria Sharapova advanced to the semifinals of the Qatar Open by beating former U.S. Open champion Samantha Stosur 6-2, 6-4 Friday. Sharapova will play either Serena Williams or Petra Kvitova in the semifinal. Meanwhile the defending champion Victoria Azarenka stormed past Sara Errani of Italy 6-2,6-2 to reach the semi finals in the top half of the draw. Azarenka will play the winner of Caroline Wozniacki and Agnieszka Radwanska clash.
