Pironkova wins Sydney final

Bulgarian Tsvetana Pironkova beat German fifth seed Angelique Kerber 6-4, 6-4 to secure her long-awaited first title after eight years in Sydney. The world number 107 is the first qualifier in more than three and half years to clinch a WTA premier level title. Kerber was Pironkova's third top-10 victim of the week, with the Bulgarian having also accounted for French Open runner-up Sara Errani and former Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova on her way to the title.
