Wozniacki and Kvitova survives, Li and Stosur among first round losers



Australian Samantha Stosur, 5th seed, lost in the opening round of 2012 Olympics. Stosur is the highest seeded player to lose in the first day. US Open champion was defeated by Carla Suarez Navarro of Spain 6-3,5-7,8-10. Former French Open champion Li Na also suffered a first round exit by Slovakian Daniela Hantuchova 2-6,6-3,3-6. Both Caroline Wozniacki and Petra Kvitova needed three sets to reach the second round. Wozniacki beat local favourite Anne Keothavong 4-6,6-3,6-2 and Kvitova beat Katerina Bondarenko of Ukraine 6-4,5-7,6-4. Ana Ivanovic and Kim Clijsters earned straight sets victories in their Olympics debut matches
